DEI 101 foundations

Get on the same page

Duration: 3hrs

We totally get that it’s rare for everyone on a team to be on the same starting point. This workshop is designed to cover key DEI concepts and terminology (in the most digestible and engaging way!). We promise, the 3 hours will blow right by!

What you’ll take away…

  • You’re not entirely sure what the difference is between the terms diversity, equity, and inclusion (yes, these have become a bit buzz wordy!) or the difference between equity and equality. Gain a deep understanding of key terms to ensure you’re starting on the right footing.

  • Learn about microaggressions, how they show up in your day to day life and in your organization (yes, they go beyond words but can show up in your policies and procedures), and learn what to do to reduce harm and how to take accountability.

  • What is power and privilege? And intersectionality? You’ve probably heard these terms but maybe you’re not really sure what they mean or how it relates to you and your role in the DEI space.

  • What is allyship? Learn how to actively play a part in anti-oppression.

DEI in practice

Go from theory to practice

Duration: 2hrs

Ok, so now that you have a good grasp of DEI theory and concepts you’re ready and activated to bring it into practice. This workshop is designed to illuminate what new ways forward could tangibly look like.

What you’ll take away…

  • Inclusive communication - learn what you should avoid saying, what you need to speak up on, and WHY.

  • Case studies - learn how other organizations infused DEI into their strategy and operations and take away learnings from the wins and flops.

  • Brainstorm with subtext facilitators on your organizations gaps and opportunities.

Digging deep and inwards

Reflect on who IS the team | Examine your “why”

Duration: 2hrs

Before you race to embed DEI within your organization, PAUSE……..let’s take a moment to do the necessary deep reflection. This is a critical step to begin unlocking your authentic DEI position.

What you’ll dig deep into…

  • Who the hell are we (hint, this is tied to power/privilege)?

  • Why do you care about DEI? No really, why do you?
